Some events stay with you. Spring Showcase is one of them.
We photographed it every year from 2014 to 2021. Eight straight years. We still think about it. Singers. Dancers. Visual artists. A full room of people who showed up to give.
Here is a look back at one of our longest running and favorite event photography projects.
What Is Spring Showcase?
Spring Showcase is a fundraiser. It supports SICM, the Student Institute of Campus Ministry.
SICM is a training program in Washington state. Each year, the Fellowship sends potential student leaders there. They learn how to do ministry on a college campus. They also get hands-on practice doing it.
The trip is not cheap. Airfare and housing add up fast. So the Fellowship hosts several fundraisers each year. The goal is to help students who can’t cover the full cost.
Showcase is the biggest one.
A DFW-Wide Talent Show
Showcase pulls in talent from across Dallas-Fort Worth. Community members and local churches take part. Musicians play. Dancers perform. Artists create original pieces to sell for the cause.
The organizers called it a huge success. The show was polished. It was professional. And the crowd was incredibly generous.
Our Role: Photography Coverage
Dallas Media Company provided photography coverage for Spring Showcase every year for eight years. Our job was simple. Capture the talent, the art, and the people behind it all.
Talent shows move fast. Lighting shifts from act to act. A solo singer under one spotlight needs a different approach than a full dance group. We stayed ready for every change.
We focused on a few key moments:
- Performers mid-song and mid-move
- Original artwork on display and for sale
- The audience reacting in real time
- Volunteers and organizers who made each night run
This is the heart of our event coverage. We blend in, move quickly, and deliver images that tell the full story of the night. You can see more of this style in our event work.
Why Photos Matter for Fundraisers
Fundraisers run on stories. Photos help tell them.
Good event images give organizers a way to thank donors. They help recruit performers for next year. They show the community exactly what its support made possible.
That is true for faith groups and nonprofits. It is just as true for chambers and community organizations hosting galas, mixers, and award nights. And it applies to corporate and business clients running conferences and team events.
Beyond live events, we also produce commercial photo and video for brands across DFW. Same eye for story. Different setting.
