Putting the Show On Air: Media Sponsorship for Backstage Access
Overview
Backstage Access was built on a simple, powerful idea: that disabled and neurodivergent artists in Dallas deserve a stage, a spotlight, and an audience. The event brought together ten performing artists and ten visual artists for one night of work that was theirs to share on their own terms.
Dallas Media Company came on as the event’s Media Sponsor. The organizers had the vision, the talent, and the heart to make the night happen, what they didn’t have was a way to put it on air. They wanted to livestream the showcase so people who couldn’t be in the room could still experience it, but they didn’t know how to run a livestream or operate the equipment to do it. That’s where we stepped in.
Our Role as Media Sponsor
Rather than treat this as a transaction, DMC contributed as the event’s Media Sponsor bringing a full production capability to a mission we believed in. The goal was straightforward: take the entire technical burden off the organizers’ shoulders so they could focus on the artists and the audience, and trust that the broadcast would just work.
What we provided:
A full live-streaming setup – configured, tested, and run end-to-end so the showcase went out live without the organizers having to touch a thing.
A complete lighting package – so the performers read clean and intentional on camera and the visual artists’ work was seen the way it deserved to be seen.
On-site operation – our team ran the stream and the gear live throughout the event, handling the parts the organizers told us they didn’t know how to manage.
In practice, we became the technical backbone of the night. The organizers brought the vision; we made sure it reached everyone it was meant for.
Why It Mattered
This is the kind of work DMC exists to do. A live event celebrating disabled and neurodivergent artists is exactly the moment where production quality stops being a luxury and starts being a form of respect — for the artists on stage, and for the audience watching from wherever they are.
By taking the livestream off the organizers’ plate, we let them do what only they could do: hold space for their community and put twenty artists in the spotlight. The technical side disappeared into the background, which is exactly where it belongs. The story was the artists. We just made sure the signal carried it.
In Their Words
“Dallas Media Company saved us. We didn’t know how to livestream or operate our equipment, and they stepped in with everything we needed. Their professionalism and support brought our vision to life.”
The Takeaway
Backstage Access is a reminder that a media partner is most valuable in the moments a team can’t pull off alone. The organizers had the heart and the artists. We had the production capability to put it all on air and the willingness to show up as a sponsor for a mission worth backing.
If you’re producing an event and the livestream feels like the part that could fall apart, that’s our lane. We’ll handle the setup, the lighting, and the live operation so you can stay focused on the people in the room and the ones watching from everywhere else.
