Overview
Complexity Gaming was building something no esports team in North America had done before. A real headquarters. A home base built like a pro sports facility. Ground Breaking was the series that let fans in on it from the start.
In Episode 1, we follow the journey from design to build to opening day. Viewers get an exclusive look at the layout, floor plans, and features of the GameStop Performance Center.
The Facility
GameStop served as title sponsor for what it called the most advanced esports facility in the country, located at The Star in Frisco. The 11,000-square-foot headquarters opened on May 20. It sits steps away from the Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters, Complexity’s sister team.
The space was split in two. The public side included retail, performance facilities, and recovery, wellness, and mental health amenities. The private side gave players and coaches advanced training rooms, a player lounge, and an innovation lab. Fans were greeted by a 50-foot LED ribbon and an 18-foot video wall running live tournaments and Complexity series.
Our Approach
We framed the headquarters as the main character. The episode moves through the vision, the design decisions, and the finished build. The series opened with a tour of the facility’s layout and floor plans. From there, it explored Complexity’s Esports 3.0 vision and what it meant to build that vision at The Star. Later episodes covered the build itself, the player training spaces, and a key problem facing the esports industry. The series closed by looking at the fan experience and the finished facility.
